Shemek shi Umidi
It is an Ibaloi phrase which means “love for countrymen”. This program is about rendering service to the community. This is similar to “bayanihan” where people work together to achieve or accomplish a common goal.
This program is in collaboration with other researchers and agencies such as Local Government Units, Indigenous Cultural Communities, Non-Government Organizations, State Universities and Colleges, and BSU Alumni.
It also aims to provide Technical Assistance, Learning Providers, Subject Matter Specialist and Outreach programs.
——Some of the outreach activities done are:
Yolanda Outreach for Unity and Responsive Service (YOURS)
It was initiated by the Development Communication Society (DCS) in partnership with the University’s Supreme Student Government (SSG) and other students’ organizations.
Its purpose was to raise fund for the purchase of goods-water, food and medicines which were distributed to families and survivors of the super typhoon Yolanda which caused devastation in Eastern Visayas in 2013.
Loving Out Loud (LOL)
It is an outreach program of the Department through the DevCom Society to help the communities and schools through donation of basic needs such as clothes, shoes, toys, and school supplies from DevCom alumni, partner organizations, groups, and others.
The LOL also considers financial assistance to the BS DevCom students who needs financial assistance to sustain their studies. Since 2013, DevCom alumni have been generous in assisting scholars to finish their studies.
